Fernando Belfiore

THE MARKET - group performance

Deep-diving into what he deems, “a radical solution to the capitalist catastrophe”, THE MARKET is a hyper-visual dance performance about radical redistribution of our wealth.

And an ecological manifesto reflecting on our sea of consumerism behaviours. Hailing social and cultural concepts through the medium of performance and described as both “hallucinatory” and “extreme”, his work is emotionally charged and ritualistic in nature. Combining dance with the mediums of theatre and visual art, Belfiore explores notions of social sculpture, Queer-culture, mythology, religion and more, where the eclectic backdrop of genre-bending soundscapes intrinsically compliment.

‘Belfiore creates strong images that make a lasting impression,’ Theaterkrant wrote in a four-star review. Perhaps that is an understatement, because the radical, alienating and transformative dance performances by Fernando Belfiore are, in all their hyper-visual eloquence, right into your face. With the playfulness of a disco bunny, but at the same time with a penetrating message about the environment and social inequality.
