Intercourse with Earth, performance
A significant part of masharu roots lies in the northern territories of the contemporary Russian Federation. In this region, the earth has historically been seen as a foundation of the universe, symbolizing rebirth and providing sustenance. It was not only used for growing food but also held sacred significance, with rituals involving swearing oaths and even sexual relations. In the Arkhangelsk region, where masharu grandmother lives, people would kiss the earth and seek forgiveness before death, believing that interaction with the earth could cleanse negative energies and restore health.
