DESIRE REIGNS, performance

"Desire Reigns" is a triptych research project featuring a music EP, a written thesis, and a live performance that examines sex, care, and love through spectacle and surveillance. It explores the complexities of intimacy, hypersexuality, and commodification, drawing from Nica Roses' experiences as a sex worker. The project critiques how desire is performed and shaped by the porn industry and internalized, inviting audiences to their understanding of intimacy through video projections, storytelling, and dance.

Bio

Nica Roses is a performance artist and body movement researcher based in Amsterdam. Their work explores intimacy through dance, installations, and relational art, creating immersive environments centered on the physical body. Since 2016, Nica has been part of the Young Boy Dancing Group and has collaborated with artists like Vincent Riebeek and Melanie Bonajo. Their performances have been featured at notable events such as the International Theater Festival of Buenos Aires (FIBA) and FLAM Festival in Amsterdam.
